Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By using NextTenant, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree with these terms, do not use the app or platform.

2. Service Overview

NextTenant is a peer-to-peer housing marketplace connecting tenants and property posters in Nigeria. Users can:

• Post property listings across multiple categories including standard rentals, roommate searches, and lease takeovers
• Browse and filter listings by category, availability, and type
• Unlock contact details of posters using app credits
• Find roommates for shared accommodations
• List properties that will become available at a future date
• Access Trust Verification to enhance community safety

3. User Accounts

• Users must provide accurate information during registration
• Users are responsible for keeping login credentials secure
• Accounts are personal and non-transferable
• You must be at least 18 years old to use the platform

4. Trust Verification

To maintain platform safety and prevent fraud:

• Users must complete Trust Verification (selfie + short video) before posting listings or unlocking contacts
• The verified selfie becomes the user's profile picture automatically
• This is not KYC or ID verification; it is solely for platform safety
• Consent for data collection is mandatory and stored for compliance purposes

5. App Credits & Transactions

• Users purchase credit bundles to unlock contact details
• No refunds are provided once credits are purchased and used
• Unlocking contact details does not guarantee a transaction or availability of a listing
• Credits have no cash value and cannot be transferred

6. Content & Listings

• Users are responsible for the accuracy of their listings, including property details, pricing, available dates, and listing category
• Users may not post illegal, fraudulent, misleading, or harmful content
• Roommate listings must accurately represent the number of rooms available, rent per person, and shared living arrangements
• Listings marked as "Coming Soon" must include a genuine expected availability date. Deliberately posting misleading availability dates is a violation of these Terms
• NextTenant Ltd reserves the right to remove listings violating these terms
• You retain ownership of content you post, but grant us a license to display it on the platform

7. Lease Takeover Listings

NextTenant allows users to list properties where the current tenant wishes to transfer their existing lease to a new tenant. The following terms apply:

• Lease takeover listings must accurately state the number of months remaining on the lease and any deposit conditions
• NextTenant is not a party to any lease agreement or lease transfer. All lease transfers are between the outgoing tenant, incoming tenant, and landlord or property manager
• Users must obtain any necessary consent from their landlord or property manager before listing a property for lease takeover
• NextTenant does not verify, guarantee, or enforce the terms of any lease agreement
• Users assume all legal and financial responsibility for lease transfer arrangements made through the platform

8. User Roles

To keep NextTenant safe and trustworthy, your posting role is based on your verified profile. Available roles include:

• Tenant: Can browse and unlock listings
• Vacating Tenant: Can post listings for properties they are leaving
• Agent: Property agents managing multiple listings
• Landlord: Property owners listing their properties

If your role changes, you can request an update in your account settings. All role changes are reviewed to prevent misuse.

9. Reporting & Safety

Users can report inappropriate listings or suspicious behavior via the "Report" button. We review all reports and take appropriate action.

• NextTenant Ltd is a facilitator of connections and does not guarantee outcomes of property transactions, lease transfers, or roommate arrangements
• Users assume all risk during property inspections
• NextTenant Ltd is not liable for personal, financial, or other losses arising from use of the platform
• NextTenant does not verify the accuracy of listing details including available dates, lease terms, or roommate arrangements. Users should independently verify all information before making commitments

12. Data Storage & Retention

• Trust Verification media is stored securely on Cloudflare
• Liveness videos are deleted after 30 days
• Selfies are deleted when your account is deleted
• User data is processed in compliance with Nigerian NDPR

13. Account Termination

• NextTenant Ltd may suspend or terminate accounts for violations of these Terms
• Users may delete their account at any time through account settings
• Upon account deletion, your data will be removed as outlined in our Privacy Policy

14. Governing Law

These Terms of Service are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Any disputes arising from these terms will be handled in the appropriate courts within Nigeria.

15. Reward Program

NextTenant offers a reward program that allows eligible users to earn free credits by posting property listings that are confirmed as taken.

• Eligibility: You must have a fully verified account with no active fraud flags to participate in the reward program
• Reward amount: Each qualifying listing earns 15 credits, credited to your wallet upon approval
• Monthly cap: You may earn a maximum of 60 credits per calendar month through the reward program
• Conditions: Only the original poster of a listing may earn a reward. An inspector must confirm the listing as taken. A minimum interaction period of 24 hours is required between listing creation and confirmation
• Validation: Rewards are validated automatically. NextTenant may reject rewards for ineligibility, suspicious activity, or violation of these Terms
• Clawback: Credits may be revoked within 72 hours of issuance if fraud or abuse is detected
• Modification: NextTenant reserves the right to modify, suspend, or terminate the reward program at any time without prior notice

16. Referral Program

NextTenant offers a referral program that rewards users for inviting friends to join the platform.

• Eligibility: You must have a verified NextTenant account to generate and share a referral code
• How it works: Share your unique referral code with a friend. When they sign up using your code and complete Trust Verification, both you and your friend receive 30 free credits (equivalent to 1 contact unlock)
• Monthly cap: You may earn a maximum of 150 referral credits (5 successful referrals) per calendar month
• Self-referral: You may not use your own referral code. Accounts found engaging in self-referral or same-device referral schemes will have credits revoked and may face suspension
• Verification required: Credits are awarded only after the referred user completes full Trust Verification. Merely signing up does not trigger a referral reward
• Fraud prevention: NextTenant employs device-level and behavioural checks to detect abuse. Referrals flagged as fraudulent will be rejected and no credits will be awarded
• Modification: NextTenant reserves the right to modify, suspend, or terminate the referral program, adjust credit amounts, or change eligibility requirements at any time without prior notice

17. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. Significant changes will be communicated via in-app notifications. Continued use of our platform after updates constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
